The 1st Texas Fastpitch League (TFL) Championships got underway on Tuesday in McKinney, TX/Plano, TX. Wednesday’s action featured the best-of-three Super Regionals in the 18U Division. The winners of the Super Regionals move on to the Lonestar Bracket on Thursday with the TFL champion being determined on Friday.
Here’s a look at Wednesday’s Super Regionals (Rankings are Extra Elite Eighty 18U Club Rankings):
IN SUPER REGIONAL A:
Impact Gold-Jackson, 3, Texas Glory Gold 2: McNeese State-bound Kennedy Reynolds had an RBI single and Auburn-commit Bri Ellis had a walk-off, two-run double as Impact Gold rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Texas Glory.
Impact Gold-Jackson 12, Texas Glory Gold 2: Texas A&M-commit KoKo Wooley went 2 for 2 with a grand slam and Texas-commit Mya Holmes went 2 for 2 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs as Impact Gold run-ruled Texas Glory to advance to the Lonestar Bracket.
IN SUPER REGIONAL B:
Texas Blaze United-Slimp/Cain 5, Athletics Mercado-Bonola 2: UT San Antonio-commit Caylee Driskill went 1 for 2 with a run scored and three RBIs, Lolo Whitney went 1 for 1 with a run scored and an RBI and Makayla Hall went 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI for Blaze United.
Texas Blaze United-Slimp/Cain 5, Athletics Mercado-Bonola 3: Sam Houston State-bound Courtney White went 1 for 3 with an RBI, Drisckill went 1 for 2 with a run scored, Hall went 1 for 1 with a run scored, Abilene Christian-bound Riley White went 2 for 2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, UT Tyler-bound Michelle Arias went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and Texas A&M Corpus Christi-commit Kayla Gonzalez went 1 for 1 with an RBI as #26 Blaze United clinched a spot in the Lonestar Bracket.
IN SUPER REGIONAL C:
Hotshots Premier-Dumezich 5, Glory Adkins Gold 0: Baylor-commit Kaci West pitched a five-hit shutout with five strikeouts in five innings and LSU-commit Abigail Savoy went 1 for 2 with a run scored and two RBIs to lead the Hotshots.
Hotshots Premier-Dumezich 14, Glory Adkins Gold 6: Lousiana Lafayette-commit Alexa Langeliers went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and four RBIs, Louisiana Lafayette-commit Elia Hebel went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and five RBIs and Texas-commit Katie Cimusz went 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs as the Hotshots beat Glory Adkins to clinch a spot in the Lonestar Bracket.
IN SUPER REGIONAL D:
Texas Dirt Divas 2021 5, Texas Glory RWB 2: Stephen F. Austin State-commit Brooke Gainous pitched 3.2 innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit and striking out five to record the victory for the Dirt Divas.
Texas Glory RWB 7, Texas Dirt Divas 2021 6: Abilene Christian-commit Rose Gonzales, Lubbock Christian-commit Riley Lunsford and Maddi Mann hit homers to help Texas Glory even the score with the Dirt Divas.
Texas Dirt Divas 2021 6, Texas Glory RWB 0: Gainous tossed a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts in five innings to help the Dirt Divas earn a slot in the Lonestar Bracket.
