EXTRA SPOTLIGHT: VERONICA CULLY
2023 UT/CF Veronica Cully is a speedy slapper that gives Rock Hill High a chance in its District and in the Texas state tournament and will make Impact Gold 16U-National a factor at major events across the nation this summer.
Cully, a standout on Rock Hills track team, is also a coach of Impact Gold’s younger players and she plans to sign with New Mexico to compete at the next level…

High School Highlights: She led her softball and track teams to Regionals.
How did you become a member of the Impact Gold organization?
I became involved with Impact Gold-Rodriguez by just hearing about them and the amazing coaches they had and how everyone gets taken care of. I couldn’t have picked a better team.
Can you talk about your experience at Rock Hill High so far?
My experience at Rock Hill has been amazing. I have had such great experience at Rock Hill with all of my teammates and the success we had in our first year and, especially, with the amazing coaching I have received from Coach (Leigh Ann) Budd.
What should we expect from your high school team this spring?
We are definitely going to be two-time District champs back-to-back. And we are making it to state. Nothing less then that!
Can you talk about your recruiting process and what you would recommend to young players?
I will recommend with young players to pick out what schools they want to go to early. I was kind of slow in the process, but it all worked out. At first with recruiting, I wasn’t sure where I really wanted to go until I visited New Mexico and it felt like home.
I would definitely recommend looking at schools that will fit you and what you want to major in. Like would you go to that school if you weren’t playing softball? Also look for a program that makes you feel like you are family and wanted. That’s what I looked for in my recruiting process and I couldn’t be happier with the school I picked.
Can you talk about your experience as a coach, including coaching your younger sister?
My experience as being a coach to younger softball players has been amazing. I love working with the future generation of ballplayers and watching their love for the game grow. With coaching my sister, it has been a wild ride, but she learns very fast and always gives 100 percent effort when I teach her things!

Do you have a secret talent/skill?
A lot of people don’t know this, but I’m very crafty and I love to paint and draw. One skill not related is I love to bake cakes, cookies and brownies off of the field. It’s a lot of fun for me!
What’s your most memorable softball story?
My most memorable softball story was definitely when I flipped over the temporary fence trying to get a fly ball. It hurt so bad, but it was so funny going back and watching the video of me flipping over it.
