BOMBERS RUMBLE TO 16U STATE TITLE

Texas Bombers Gold-Smith-Burgess, #7 in the Extra Elite Eighty 16U Club Rankings, went 7-0 en route to the 16U Triple Crown Texas State Championship this week, beating #9 Texas Blaze United, 5-0, in the championship game on Wednesday in Sugar Land.

Leighann Goode hit .523 and had nine RBIs for the undefeated Bombers at the 16U Triple Crown Texas State Championship.

“This tournament means so much to our players and families,” Bombers coach James Burgess said. “With COVID-19 dominating every facet of our everyday lives, it’s nice to get outside with our travel ball family and compete. This summer obviously will look very different from summers of the past. We won’t be traveling as much as we normally do, but we love to get the opportunity to showcase the kids. We’d like to thank Triple Crown and Jonathan Lampl for hosting a quality event with the necessary safety protocols.”

Some of the standouts for the Bombers this week were uncommitted 2022 SS Leighann Goode (.523, nine RBIs), UTSA-committed 2021 IF Olivia McFadden (.600, three HRs, 13 RBIs), Texas A&M-committed 2022 OF Keely Williams (.562, one HR, eight RBIs), uncommitted 2023 MIF Reagan Jones (.461, one HR, seven RBIs), Georgia-committed 2023 P Kirsten Fleet (15 IP, 25 Ks), uncommitted 2022 P Grace Sparks (nine IP, eight Ks) and uncommitted 2022 P Nicole Bodeux (nine IP, six Ks, touched 68 mph multiple times).
