Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them?
I have played for Coach Nathan (Nelson) for almost four years now. I started on one of the younger teams within the organization and was brought up to his team to learn and grow as a player. After my first year with him, I realized what it was going to take if I wanted to earn my spot, so I worked for it and I could not be more thankful for where I am today.

Can you talk about your experiences at Lake Creek High?
What have you accomplished and what are your goals this year? Playing for Coach (Michelle) Rochinski has been nothing less than an absolute blast. The team is very goal oriented and this year striving for the program’s first state championship. This year, I have thrown 170 strikeouts in 78 innings with a 0.36 ERA. I have hit six home runs so far this season and have 18 RBIs.

Can you talk about your recruiting journey and how you ended up choosing Florida? And do you have some recruiting tips for younger players?

I chose the University of Florida because I genuinely felt like the atmosphere was amazing and a perfect fit for me. I felt like Coach (Tim) Walton and I clicked the second we met and I could confidently see myself playing in Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium one day. It was truly a home away from home.

Ava does the Gator Chomp… she says that she and Coach Tim Walton “clicked the second we met.”

My recruiting tips for younger players would simply be to ask questions and be OK with going out of your comfort zone.

What’s your most memorable softball story?
My most memorable softball memory would have to be last summer, our team played a total of 24 games in one week and ended up winning both tournaments back-to-back on what felt like an empty tank and it was honestly just an amazing experience with the most amazing girls and coaches.
