***Most high school teams around the country are fully into their schedules, so it’s a good time for TLI to check out which players are in the chase for the national home run title:
* Houston-bound 1B/3B/LF/SS/P Corine Poncho, #50 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, currently leads the nation with 23 home runs in 22 games for Notre Dame of LA.
Poncho, who is batting .471 with 51 RBIs, is a former PGF 14U national champion who currently plays for Birmingham Thunderbolts 18U Premier and a three-time state champion for Notre Dame.
* Poncho’s Notre Dame teammate, LSU-bound 1B Abigail Savoy, is #2 in the nation with 20 home runs in 21 games. Savoy, #65 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, is batting .574 with 67 RBIs.
* Oklahoma-bound C/IF Jocelyn Erickson, #10 in the 2022 Extra Elite 100, has hit 16 home runs in 18 games for O’Connor in AZ. Erickson, who plays for OC Batbusters 18U-Stith, is batting ,586 with 42 RBIs.
* Dixie State-bound SS/OF/P Tanya Windle has hit 15 home runs in 12 games for Cactus of AZ. Windle, who plays for Oro Valley 18U Suncats-Judge, is batting .725 with 38 RBIs.
* Wichita State-bound SS/P Samantha Hood, who plays for American Freedom 18U National, has hit 14 home runs in 24 games for Allen of TX. Hood is hitting .463 with 38 RBIs for the Eagles.
