The WCWS in Retrospect: 5 Big Takeaways That Defined the 2019 Series

The Women’s College World Series is now two weeks behind us and, with time to reflect, the 2019 edition brought some terrific takeaways that likely didn’t appear on your television screens.

1. Bedlam Brings Out the Fans

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State both made the WCWS, the first time since 2011 that the two rival teams both appeared in Oklahoma City.

Thanks to the close proximity of each school’s home field to Hall of Fame Stadium, a lot of Crimson and Orange appeared in the stands, but even during sessions when the two “local” teams weren’t playing, a near-capacity crowd filled the stands.

Attendance all week was impressive, breaking the all-time WCWS attendance record.
