At Extra Inning Softball, we believe some of the most important voices in the sport come from the people living the journey every weekend — the parents. Today’s Parent Hub feature spotlights Martha Howard, mother of Class of 2028 Extra Select infielder Desi Howard, ranked #293 nationally and #37 in the West Region. Their family has been part of the fastpitch world for years, and like many dedicated softball families, they’ve experienced the long drives, late nights, early mornings, forgotten gear, big moments, and everything in between.
In this piece, Martha shares an honest reflection on the travel ball lifestyle — the chaos, the joy, and the lessons learned while supporting a daughter who loves the game. Her voice represents countless parents walking the same path, and her message offers reassurance, perspective, and encouragement for those just stepping into the travel ball world.
