The first full day of the Top Gun Invitational tourney taking place this week in Shawnee, Kan. saw a lot of great softball action but it also including some fun cultural exchanges, too.
Team New Zealand brought its 18U and 16U team after a 12-hour flight on Sunday to Los Angeles and then another four flight to the site of the event.
Before its first game on Thursday against the Colorado Stars, the 18U did the “Haka”” which is performed for a variety of reasons including to celebrate great achievements or occasions and/or to welcome guests or visitors.
We’d say playing softball halfway across the world would count as a big occasion!
