Watch Live TONIGHT: Team USA vs. Scrap Yard Fast Pitch in 1st of Three Battles in Texas!

After finishing a three-series last Tuesday through Thursday in Lafayette, Louisiana that saw the 2019 USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) take 2-of-3 against Scrap Yard Fast Pitch, an independent professional softball team, the two talented squads will play three more starting Sunday night in Conroe, Texas, north of Houston.

For the players on Scrap Yard, it’s a great experience as they have played with and against many of the Team USA athletes already.

“I’m excited to play team USA because I’ve been friends with a lot of those girls for a long time and it’s exciting to see them living out their Olympic dreams,” infielder Sam Fisher, who played at Loyola Marymount, said.

Scrap Yard pitcher Cheridan Hawkins, an Oregon alum, added: “Every time I have an opportunity to step on the field I am excited and grateful. Playing the team that is representing our country is humbling yet competitive! Team USA is a solid team and I look forward to playing some great softball (against them).”

Pitcher Dallas Escobedo, who won a national championship at Arizona State, agreed.

“Having played against Team USA for the past few years, I believe that they have developed a team that will give the USA a reason to watch and support an amazing group of women. It’s very exciting to compete against the greats like Cat Osterman and Monica Abbott. I love watching their pace of play and taking in anything I can learn as an opponent. These women have been to the Olympics and are professionals in their craft which is inspiring to watch and play against on the other side.”

Houston Series

On Sunday, July 28 Team USA and Scrap Yard will play at 6 p.m. CST with 7 p.m. games on Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30.

All three games in Houston will be played at Scrap Yard Sports Complex (29607 Robinson Rd, Conroe, Texas 77385). Admission for the three-games in Houston is FREE!
