Infielders Rising Early Across the U.S.

The countdown is on. With Class of 2028 nominations officially opening August 1, the excitement is building across the softball world. Who will break through in this next round of Extra Elite Rankings? And who’s already turning heads?

From coast to coast, Extra Inning Softball is keeping a close eye on the next wave of infield talent. Whether making clutch plays in high school playoffs or shining on elite travel circuits, these athletes are setting a high bar.

The EIS team relies on performance updates, coach and parent insights, and national event coverage to track players. While this list is just a small preview, it highlights a few of the infielders who’ve stood out recently—and whose progress we’ll be watching closely in the coming weeks. From East to West, these infielders are setting the tone for the Class of 2028. While this is only a snapshot of the talent we’re tracking, it highlights athletes who have recently stepped up in major ways. Let’s kick things off with a few standouts from the Northeast.

Nominate Your Class of 2028 Infielder

These athletes represent just a fraction of the talent emerging from the Class of 2028—but they set the tone. Whether commanding their defense, showing up in clutch moments, or adjusting with maturity beyond their years, they’re proving why the catcher position remains one of the most demanding—and essential—in the game.

This list is just the beginning—and we need your help to make sure no standout gets left off. Coaches, if you have a 2028 pitcher who’s making an impact, we’d love for you to submit a nomination starting August 1.

Parents are also welcome to nominate, especially if coaches are busy during the travel season. However, we kindly ask that you check in with your coach first to ensure accuracy and team support.
