Extra Inning Softball recognizes athletes who have faced significant challenges away from the diamond and demonstrated the determination required to return to the game.
For Briella Hernandez, a Class of 2030 pitcher and middle infielder from Rockwall, Texas, who competes for Impact Gold NTX National 14U, that challenge was bigger than softball.
At just 10 years old, Hernandez was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in the muscle of her left jaw. Her diagnosis began a demanding treatment process that included 10 months of chemotherapy and 12 rounds of radiation. It also forced Hernandez to step away from the sport she loved while her teammates continued competing.
