Thursday was World Gratitude Day. You can check your calendar; it really is a thing.
The staff at Extra Inning Softball felt there was no better time to reflect on what makes the game of softball special.
We have produced a list of 50 things that we are grateful for as it relates to softball.
1. Grass
There is just something about a freshly manicured field that we enjoy. We aren’t talking about your grandfather’s backyard here, but a field that is prepared for action. Pure beauty.
2. Turf
Not really a fan of turf as a playing surface but need to give the proper recognition because without it many of our softball playing friends in colder climates couldn’t play a home game until June and it allows teams to have indoor practice facilities. So, all hail turf.
3. Uniforms
Absolutely love the mix and match and color schemes of teams today. Not going to lie, we are big fans of the Ole Miss baby blues and Oregon has amazing uniforms also. Some of those travel ball uniforms get a nod of appreciation as well.
4. Coaches
We appreciate the dedication to craft at all levels of coaching. They are passionate and knowledgeable about the sport and do their best to provide a positive experience for the players.
5. Fans
The game obviously wouldn’t be the same without passionate fans at Division I, II and III as well as the NAIA and junior college levels. And, of course, the parents and fans of travel ball and high school teams across the country. Just a reminder to cheer loud for your team, but let’s be respectful.
