Over the last week, Extra Inning Softball released the regional rankings across the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, Mountain, and West, spotlighting the athletes already separating themselves in one of the most competitive age groups we’ve seen in years.

This region recap is not simply a list of names — it is a snapshot of where the talent is rising, how it is distributed, and what it tells us about the future of the game. Let’s go.👇

As we move deeper into the 2029 rankings cycle — including national tiers and expanded watchlists — this recap serves as the foundation.

In addition to the rankings, we’ve included a roundtable conversation with the Extra Inning Softball staff, focusing on trends we’re seeing across the class, newly launched initiatives, and insight provided by our rankings committee.

Last week, we announced two major initiatives aimed at enhancing how rankings are evaluated and presented across the platform. Here’s a closer look at what’s ahead:

  • Five-Star Rating System – Introduced with the Class of 2029, this new system adds another layer of clarity and context to individual evaluations.

  • Team Rankings Return – One of our most requested features is making a full comeback later this year, bringing expanded insight into programs across the country.

Extra Elite 100 Rankings Schedule

The Class of 2029 Extra Elite 100 will be released in four primary categories: Pitchers, Catchers, Infielders, and Outfielders. 

  • Feb 16: Extra Elite 100 (#100–11) – Every Position
  • Feb 17: Extra Elite 100 (#10–6) – Every Position
  • Feb 18 – Feb 20: People’s Choice Vote – Top 5 Fan Picks
  • Feb 21: Fastpitch Fan Pick Top 5
  • Feb 22: Extra Elite 100 Top 5
National Select & Prospect Rankings

The Class of 2029 rankings continue with two upcoming national releases that highlight the depth of elite talent across the country:

  • National Extra Select Athletes (Ranked 101–200)
    📅 February 23 — All positions

  • National Extra Prospect Athletes (Ranked 201–300)
    📅 February 24 — All positions

Both national lists will be released by position, spotlighting top pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders from across the nation. All updates will be published HERE!

Class of 2029 National Honor Roll

Last week, we proudly unveiled the three academic tiers of Extra Inning Softball’s National Honor Roll — recognizing excellence in the classroom alongside achievement on the field.
