Houston Academy High (Alabama) third baseman and catcher Jaysoni Beachum, #34 in the 2023 Extra Elite 100, has been smashing her way through the high school season and over the weekend she showed how she could cause jaws to drop in another venue.
Beachum is batting .484 with 14 homers, 15 doubles, 37 runs scored and 49 RBIs to help the Raiders, #30 in the nation, build a 29-4-1 record.
As amazing as the super sophomore’s stats have been in prep games, the Bama slugger erupted for 80 home runs to win the Kasey Cooper Home Run Derby at the Dothan Diamond Classic on Saturday in Dothan, Alabama.
There were three rounds where players were allowed seven outs and a maximum of 10 home runs. Beachum, who plays Tennessee Mojo 2023-Danley, hit 30 home runs in the first three rounds to get to the championship.
Then she unloaded with 50 bombs in the championship round before the ref, aka Kasey Cooper, a former Dothan High, AL, Auburn and Team USA star, stepped in and stopped the fight.
“I hit 50 home runs in the championship round,” Beachum said. “I had five outs to go, but they just stopped me.”
