Week 6 of the Division I regular season has come and gone, and some teams should be carrying their heads especially high after some impressive achievements this week.
Let’s take a look at some of these teams who shined in the college ranks…
*****
Kentucky
For the second straight week, the Wildcats swept through a conference opponent, moving to 6-0 in SEC play. A week removed from a sweep over South Carolina, the Wildcats welcomed Mississippi State to Lexington and recorded a trio of wins over the Bulldogs. Junior pitcher Autumn Humes was one run (actually, one Fa Leilua 7th inning home run) from posting a pair of shutouts in the weekend series against the Bulldogs and the Kentucky offense scored 21 runs on the weekend.
Arizona
Hosting the Ducks of Oregon in the first conference series of the year, Mike Candrea’s Wildcats recorded a pair of run-rule wins to open the series, with identical 8-0 wins before coming from behind to sweep the series with an 8-3 score in the series finale. Dejah Mulipola and Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza recorded a trio of home runs each, while Rylee Pierce contributed a hot bat of her own. The Wildcats saw quality pitching through the depth of their staff, including a pair of wins from ace Taylor McQuillin.
