We first learned about the move last week from Michigan Head Coach Carol Hutchins who tweeted:
Head coach Boo De Oliveira and the Purdue softball program welcomed Magali Frezzotti as the softball assistant coach.
Under De Oliveira’s guidance, Frezzotti will lead the defensive effort for the Boilermakers.
“We are very excited to welcome Coach Frezzotti to the Purdue softball family,” De Oliveira said. “She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, including international experience that will help propel our team forward. Her core values and personality make her a great fit for Boilermaker softball. We’re looking forward to having her on campus.”
Frezzotti comes to Purdue from Montana, where she was the Assistant Softball Coach since September 2018. While with the Grizzlies, she was responsible for the development of hitters and catchers, while assisting with infielders.
Defensively, Frezzotti oversaw the catcher’s defensive skills, leading to improvements in footwork, glove positioning, hop-reading and more.
While with Montana, Frezzotti helped the Grizzlies to a program-best 16-3 record at home and a third-place finish in the Big Sky Conference in 2019 during her inaugural year and will leave the program with more than 55 wins under their belt.
Prior to her time at Montana, Frezzotti’s previous stops include Eastern Michigan as an assistant coach, Concordia as a graduate assistant and Michigan.
A native of Argentina, Frezzotti played for the Agentina National Team for 12 1/2 years and she not only served as team captain, but competed in the World Cup in 2015, Pan American Championships, World Championships and more.
Her success on the world stage resulted in being named to the All-Tournament team as a catcher at the 2017 Women’s Softball Pan American Championship, held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Frezzotti earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Instituto Numero 1 Dr. Enrique Romero Brest in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2012, a master’s degree in student personnel administration in higher education from Concordia in 2017 and a master’s degree in public administration from Montana in 2020.
