The Danger of Comparison

In today’s world, it’s nearly impossible to avoid comparison. Scroll through social media for just a few minutes, and you’ll see highlight reels of other athletes committing to schools, celebrating offers, and sharing stats. It’s a beautiful thing to watch others succeed. But if you’re not careful, that admiration can slowly twist into discouragement, insecurity, and doubt—especially when your journey looks different.
The truth is, comparison steals. It doesn’t just distract you—it diminishes the joy of your own progress. And with September 1 approaching, the pressure can feel overwhelming for athletes who haven’t gotten the call or the offer they hoped would come. But I want to remind you today: Your path is not supposed to look like anyone else’s. God is not late, and He has not forgotten you.
