Welcome to Madness Monday, the digital series from Extra Inning Softball where we stir the pot and tackle the sport’s most debated issues. As we continue transitioning from traditional articles to dynamic, on-the-go content, you can expect honest conversations, authentic voices, and real-time reactions—straight from the heart of the softball world.

This week’s debate: Should school ball take priority over travel ball in August?

Katie Lively and Jayden Mount sat down to dive into the tension that heats up every preseason. With tryouts, tournaments, college camps and team loyalties clashing, who gets the final say—and what’s best for the athlete?

Here’s how you voted on our Dugout Discussion Polls:

• Balance both – 42.86%

• Yes, school builds pride and community – 28.57%

• No, travel offers more exposure – 28.57%

• Depends on the player – 0%

Tune in to hear both sides and see what the Extra Inning team has to say.  The majority leaned toward balance—but the tension is real. Now it’s your turn to listen, reflect, and decide where you stand.

Let the madness begin.
