In softball, we celebrate the moments everyone can see — the strikeouts, the home runs, the walk-offs, the big commitments. But one of the hardest parts of this sport happens where no one else is looking. It happens in the mind.
For so many athletes, especially in today’s world of nonstop highlights and constant visibility, the toughest challenge isn’t beating the opponent across the field. It’s learning to compete without comparing themselves to everyone else around them.
The mental game isn’t just part of softball. It is softball. And learning to master it — learning to compete instead of compare — might be one of the greatest advantages a young athlete can build.
