Event News: Tulsa Elite Summer Invite Hits Year #10… With 96 Teams Competing at One Complex!

With Memorial Day 2020 officially behind us, and the start of June coming up Monday, it can only mean one thing: the summer club season is upon us.

Of course, there’s much uncertainty this summer because of the Coronavirus restrictions and many events have been cancelled or postponed; however, Oklahoma is going full-speed with events having had tournaments the last two weekends and coming up quickly is one of the top showcases of the season: the Tulsa Elite Summer Invite, which hits a significant milestone this year.

“We’re less than two weeks away from the 10th Annual Tulsa Elite Summer Invite,” says Jeff Filali, the Founder and GM of the Tulsa Elite organization and Tulsa Elite Sports, “and everything is coming together to have some great softball games, despite all the craziness COVID-19 has caused.”

College coaches at the DI and DII levels won’t be in attendance for the event which runs June 4-7 at the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma complex (although many D3, NAIA & Juco’s will be there), but that doesn’t mean they won’t be fully investigated in watching the excellent array of 96 teams located all in one place.

Filali explains that since the NCAA extended the recruiting dead period for D1 schools and the quiet period for D2 programs through the end of June, many NCAA coaches have been reaching out to make sure they would receive access to schedules and the roster book prior to the event to help them plan for watching the games of 16U and 14U teams via live streaming.

“The schedule is done and being sent out to teams today. The complete roster books with schedule will be emailed to every school in our database nationwide by the end of the week.”

There are many traditional powerhouse organizations that will be competing in the now decade-long tournament including Tulsa Elite, Texas Glory, Nebraska Gold, Kansas Select FP, Top Gun, Iowa Premier, Oklahoma Athletics, St. Louis Chaos, Impact Gold and many more.

The Coronavirus impact has had an impact, leading to some last-minute alterations, Filali explains.

“We lost a few teams due to the COVID-19 situation changing their travel plans, either due to their local travel restrictions, NCAA dead period concerns, or parents financial issues from layoffs limiting travel abilities,” the Tulsa Elite leader continues, “so we’ve replaced them with some other solid regional teams including the Peoria Sluggers from Illinois, the Texas Hawks and the South Dakota Renegades.”
