Event Preview: PGF Nationals 14U, 12U and 10U Starts Bracket Play Today with Titles to Be Decided Saturday & Sunday

The second week of the 2021 PGF Nationals—this one covering the younger age divisions of 14U, 12U and 10U—will have a high bar to shoot for if the championship games will match those of their elder sisters who played last Saturday.

That’s because both the 18U and 16U championships came down to the very last play and were decided on walk-off hits!At the 18U level, Nebraska Gold – Singleton topped Lady Dukes – Lamar 2-1 in nine innings, and at 16U Hotshots Premier – Nelson defeated Mojo – Fisher 3-2 in the bottom of the 7^th.

Don’t be surprised, however, if there are some great contests at the young levels because what they lack in age and experience, the 14’s, 12’s and 10’s make up in energy and volume!

At the five age levels (Premier and Platinum at both 14U and 12U plus 10U Premier only), the bracket play towards the championship games that will take place Saturday for Platinum and Sunday for Premier begins on Wednesday.

There will be nearly 300 teams competing in Week 2 representing 23 states (Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin).

And if you want to follow a specific age group, note that the 14U’s are playing primarily in Huntington Beach, the 12’s in Fountain Valley and the 10’s in Irvine.

The 14U and 12U Platinum Championship games will be held on Saturday (times TBD) and the 10U, 12U and 14U Premier Championship games, which will begin on Sunday at 9 am, 12:30 pm and 4 pm Pacific time respectively, will similarly take place at Deanna Manning Stadium in Bill Barber Park located in Irvine, California.

Extra Inning Softball will be at the Nationals through the championship games and will have reports on the action… though we can’t guarantee that this week’s games will all come down to the final play like last week’s did!
