We are excited to announce a groundbreaking collaboration between Extra Inning Softball and Vizual Edge, a pioneer in vision training for athletes. This collaboration aims to empower athletes, particularly in visually-demanding sports like softball, by refining core visual and cognitive skills crucial for success at the highest levels.
Backed by more than 20 years of research and data analysis, Vizual Edge’s online training platform, The Edge Trainer, combines 3D technology to sharpen neural pathways between the eyes and brain.
Over 80% of sensory information is visual, and softball is one of the most visually-demanding sports, requiring elite processing skills to succeed at the highest level.
The Edge Trainer program is designed to improve the speed, coordination and efficiency of an athlete’s core visual and cognitive skills, all within 15 minutes of training on any iPad or computer.
Similar to weight training, Vizual Edge tailors each athlete’s training program based on their initial assessment to target deficiencies and ensure all core visual processing skills are improved over time.
The “Game Day” mode is an athlete-favorite that allows players to warm up their visual system in under 10 minutes, prior to stepping on the field.
Through consistent use, athletes can anticipate improvements in their pitch recognition, reaction speeds, timing, tracking, throwing accuracy and more!
Vizual Edge’s Edge Trainer program has been used by the likes of Team USA and Athletes Unlimited players, as well as NCAA programs such as Florida, Missouri, McNeese State and Michigan, as well as travel programs like the Aces and Texas Glory.
Teams can add the Edge Trainer program so that every athlete has a customized plan built specifically for them, based on their visual strengths and weaknesses. Coaches have the flexibility to track scores, usage, and progress throughout the season, making it easy to stay on top of players.
The Edge Score is a composite score out of 100 used by players, coaches, scouts and parents to measure an athlete’s overall visual processing system, and is a trainable metric that can be improved right from home through consistent use of the Edge Trainer.
