Abby Doerr of Beverly Bandits-Conroy is known in the softball community for hitting a ton of dingers and her outstanding catching skills, but her coaches and teammates talk about her being an “amazing teammate” and her “leadership.”
“Abby is the ultimate team player,” Beverly Bandits coach Bill Conroy said. “Great catcher with a cannon for an arm. Terrific hitter for both average and power. With all that she brings both offensively and defensively, her best asset is being a great leader and even better teammate.”
Doerr’s teammates see a bright future ahead for the Alabama-bound backstop.
“Abby has a special skill-set,” Washington-bound 2B/IF Stormy Kotzelnick said. “She’s one of the best I’ve ever seen, not only does her athletic capabilities show on the field, but her leadership is also what sparks her game. Not very many women have her strength and power either behind or at the plate.”
“She’s an amazing teammate as well and that’s what makes her so unique to the Bandits. She’s one of those where you look forward to playing just to know she’s going to be on the field with you. She has effected not only my life, but many others when she came to represent the Bandits … what a bright future ahead.”
Doerr is respected for her mental and physical toughness.
“Abby is hands down one of the best players in the country,” Stanford-bound P/1B Regan Krause said. “She is an amazing receiver and great at calling pitches too. She is also a very consistent player. She hits a lot of home runs but also helps the team in any way she can. She is so important to the Bandits not only because of her physical talents, but because of her mental game too. She is one of the toughest people I know. Aside from that, she is extremely humble and selfless.”
