Uncommitted 2023 right-handed pitcher/first baseman Jocelyn Briski burst onto the national softball scene this past summer, showing off her power-hitting and power-pitching skills to help Arizona Storm-Mathis/Appel reach the PGF 14U Premier national championship game.
“Jocelyn is a power pitcher with swing-and-miss stuff,” Arizona Storm coach Steve Appel said. “Her movement is filthy. She gives her team a chance to win every time she steps in the circle. Off days don’t happen very often. Offensively, she is country strong with the ability to leave the ballpark at anytime. When she leaves the yard, they are no doubters.”
Briski, ranked as one of the top 100 pitchers in the 2023 class, went 5-1 with a 2.48 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 32 innings to go along with two home runs and six RBIs during Arizona Storm’s bracket play run at PGF.
“Jocelyn’s skills on the field are dominating,” uncommitted MIF Kate Vance, herself a Top 10 player in the 2024 Extra Elite 100, said. “She’s a special hitter that she doesn’t strike out much, but hits with a lot of power. Jocelyn as a pitcher is dominating. She throws hard, but her movement is what sets her apart. She gets a ton of strikeouts but doesn’t walk very many. I love playing defense behind her. It seems like if she’s not striking them out, she’s getting ground balls.”
Briski’s teammates said she gives them confidence to go up against any team in the nation.
“Jocelyn is one of the most fearless players I’ve ever seen,” uncommitted 2023 MIF Sierra Daniel, a Top 20 player in her class said. “When she’s faced with pressure, you know she can handle it. She is also such a hard worker and is always pushing to find ways to get better. Jocelyn brings a sense of leadership to the team by always picking up her teammates and having their back on the mound. What makes her a unique player is how she is not only dominant on the mound, but also as a hitter. The team can always count on her to come through with timely hits.”
