Class of 2024 Extra Elite Top 100 #45 Gretta Grassel has signed her National Letter of Intent (“NLI”) to play Division I softball in the Southeastern Conference with the Mississippi State University Bulldogs, starting in the fall of next year.
The outfielder and right-handed pitcher for Top Gun 18U National hails from Boscobel, Wisconsin, and has been working towards the goal of playing at the next level since she first picked up a ball at a young age.
“I am a Wisconsin girl through and through. I had a dream of playing college softball since I was a little girl, but no one from my area had every gone big time. I wanted to change that,” Gretta shared. “So, with the help of my faith and my family, I did the impossible. Many people doubted me along the way, but their doubt only pushed me to be that inspiration for little girls in my area.”
A heavily decorate student-athlete, Gretta is in her senior year at Boscobel High School, where she serves as the Senior Class President and has earned seven separate Academic All-Conference honors throughout her softball, basketball, and volleyball seasons.
With Boscobel Softball, Gretta has helped the team to three conference and three regional championships, going undefeated in conference play during her junior season. A three-time 1st Team All-Conference selection and twice nominated for the Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year, Gretta was named the Southwest Wisconsin Athletic League (SWAL) Player of the Year as a freshman, throwing four no-hitters, one perfect game and nine shutouts for Boscobel, culminating the year with 233 Ks and an impressive ERA of 0.41.
