As the spring season fades and national rankings wind down, High School Softball doesn’t stop—especially not in states that blend competition with autumn’s great air. This fall, Extra Inning Softball (EIS), in partnership with MaxPreps, is proud to shine a spotlight on the elite athletes fueling the game with our Golden Arm, Golden Glove, and Golden Bat award series.

Why Fall Matters (And Where It’s Official)

The bulk of the country competes in softball during the spring, but several states have embraced the cooler months with sanctioned fall seasons:

• Mississippi (MAIS – private schools)

• Colorado

• Oklahoma

• Missouri

• Georgia

• Nebraska

These regions unlock unique competitive advantages—from weather stability and field access to showcase windows aligned with recruiting calendars. Notably, the NFCA recognizes All-Region fall teams from Region I (Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa) and Region II (Colorado, Georgia, Oklahoma) NFCA.

When spring coverage ends, EIS continues to track and honor these fall athletes with awards that capture their excellence.

From Spring to Fall: Building on Momentum

Last spring, EIS and MaxPreps elevated the game by launching the Golden Awards—an innovative recognition system for HS softball’s top performers nationwide Extra Inning Softball+2Extra Inning Softball+2. The categories:

Golden Arm

• Lowest ERA

• Most Strikeouts

• Most Wins

• Most No-Hitters & Perfect Games

Golden Glove

• Fielders who finish the season error-free, recognizing clean defense and reliability

Golden Bat

• Highest Batting Average

• Most Home Runs

• Most RBIs

• Most Stolen Bases

Every two weeks, EIS highlights the Top 15 in each category. As fall transitions to winter, the season culminates with the Top 5 finalists and Overall Winners—setting up a nationally recognized honor roll of elite high school softball talent.

   Fall states often operate under the radar. These awards ensure standout performances get the recognition they deserve when national media attention shifts to winter sports.

As leaves fall and championships are crowned, EIS will proudly reveal:

• Top 5 and Overall Winner in Golden Arm in each category

• Top 5 and Overall Winner in Golden Glove in each category

• Top 5 and Overall Winner in Golden Bat in each category
