Golden Bat Award – National Top 5 Stolen Bases
MaxPreps and Extra Inning Softball teamed up this spring to spotlight the fastest, most disruptive players on the basepaths through the Golden Bat Award for Stolen Bases. Every two weeks, top base stealers from across the country were recognized—each meeting a strict benchmark of at least 68 stolen bases to qualify. For this final national honor, the Top 5 athletes in the nation were selected using specific criteria, making this recognition one of the most exclusive speed-based awards in high school softball.

How the Golden Bat Award for Stolen Bases Works
MaxPreps and Extra Inning Softball created the Golden Bat Award for Stolen Bases to spotlight the fastest, most dynamic baserunners in high school softball. This national award honors athletes who consistently disrupt defenses, take extra bases, and turn routine singles into scoring threats.
To qualify, each athlete must have recorded at least 68 stolen bases during the season. From this elite group, the Top 5 base stealers in the nation were selected based on total steals, game impact, and overall efficiency on the basepaths.
These players didn’t just rack up numbers—they changed games with their speed. The Golden Bat for Stolen Bases recognizes their ability to apply pressure, flip momentum, and fuel their team’s offense with every stolen base.
