How Haylen Ayers Earned the No. 1 Spot

Every team has that one player. The one who brings energy when it’s quiet. Who dives without hesitation. Who makes you believe you’ve got a shot—no matter the score.

For University School of Jackson and Birmingham Thunderbolts–Thompson, that player is Haylen Ayers.

She’s not just the #1-ranked player in the Class of 2027 Extra Elite 100—or the top outfielder in the Southeast. She’s the kind of athlete who changes the temperature of a game by how she carries herself.

Get to know the drive behind Ayers’ championship mentality, the faith that fuels her, her roots in two-sport toughness, and the why behind her rise.

Next: what separates Ayers from everyone else on the field.
