Olivia Buettner has decided to stay in her home state to play Division I collegiate softball in the Big 12 Conference at Baylor University.
Growing up just 90 minutes from the Waco, Texas campus, Olivia has been around the sport since she was born. Her father, Matt Buettner, coached a combination of baseball and softball teams for 30 years and her elder sister, Abby Buettner, served as the athlete’s role model on the field.
“I learned how to swing the bat by standing next to my older sister and mirroring what she did in the cage next to me. Being able to grow up around my sister and father’s love for the game introduced me to what now fuels my love for competition,” commented the Baylor commit. “I have the number 33 because of my sister. She is one of the many reasons I started to play this game, because what younger sister doesn’t copy everything their older sister does…even their number?”
