Phoenyx Silva, a talented corner-infielder from Providence, Rhode Island, has announced her commitment to play softball in the Big 10 Conference at the University of Iowa, starting in the fall of 2025.
“As a player from New England, the road had been hard, but it was a fun run to being committed to Iowa,” shared the athlete. “It taught me that hard work is more important that talent, and in the same breath, softball does not define me.”
When Phoenyx made the USA All-American game in Oklahoma during 2020, she realized she had the ability to compete at a high level.
“[That year], I was ranked #264 by Extra Inning Softball,” commented Phoenyx. “I understood that I needed to compete against the top players in the country to improve that number—I’ve always wanted to play against the best players from everywhere in the country.”
Phoenyx enrolled at La Salle Academy, a private preparatory school located closer to the rest of her Rhode Island Thunder National club team, coached by Dave Lotti.
