Sydnie Watts accepted an offer from The Georgia Institute of Technology on October 1st via phone call with the Yellow Jackets’ coaching staff, following an incredible visit where the talented pitcher gained clarity on her decision.
Hailing from Austintown, Ohio, Sydnie began playing softball at eight years old. Coached by her father for five years on a regional team, she eventually switched to the elite Lady Dukes organization. Once she started high school, Sydnie also competed for Austintown Fitch’s softball squad, contributing to an unprecedented appearance in the regional tournament. By sophomore year, the team claimed the title of Ohio Division I State Champions, going undefeated the entire season.
“It was such an amazing feeling to be able to accomplish a state championship for our community, and I’m excited for the next two years,” recalled Sydnie. “More importantly, I hope that we were able to help build a name for our program for the future.”
