In Case You Missed It: Diamond Direction Softball Portal Showcase for Transferring College Players Set for July 13, 2020 in Atlanta

With the growing significance of the transfer portal as a way to help college athletes look for a new home, Diamond Direction has announced the Softball Portal Showcase will be held July 13, 2020 in the Atlanta area.

Note: this release was updated by Diamond Direction, an event company based in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday… we are reposting it today as many missed it this news on Monday and are looking for more info and the contact links…

The NCAA Transfer Portal has very quickly become one of the most important stories in college softball over the last few years and crucial way for top D-I and D-II programs to infuse talent into their programs.

Diamond Direction, one of the top softball camp and tournament organizations in the country, has announced the new date for the Diamond Direction Softball Portal Showcase, which will take place July 13, 2020 in the Atlanta metropolitan area.

“We want to provide collegiate athletes with a way to showcase themselves after they decide to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal,” Nate Eaton, the President of Diamond Direction, stated today.

Nate Eaton, President of Diamond Direction, expects top conference coaches to be represented for evaluating at the showcase.

Originally set for next month, the first-of-its-kind event was pushed back to July 13 for several reasons according to Eaton.

“We decided to move the camp to July because we feel that more student-athletes and college coaches will feel more comfortable then traveling due to COVID-19.  We also continue to hear rumors that college coaches expect that the NCAA will extend the dead period beyond May 31st so we wanted to get in front of that.”

“Also, in our opinion,” the event director added, “if the camp is much past the middle of July it will be hard for schools and the athletes to get enrollment worked out before school starts in August.”

The Diamond Direction Softball Portal Showcase will be limited by position (Pitcher, Catcher, Middle Infielder, Corner Infielder, Outfielder or Utility Player) so players who sign up first at their respective positions will have the maximum opportunity to be evaluated.

Participants will be showcased in live games and in controlled practice environments.

Hundreds of college coaches are expected to be in attendance from all Power 5 Conferences and many from mid-major conferences to evaluate.

Many will be in Atlanta already scouting at top travel ball showcases—including the Atlanta Legacy Showcase—and have indicated they will stay to evaluate prospects at the Softball Portal Showcase.

“Based on our conversations with college coaches, we expect each conference in NCAA Division I to be represented to evaluate at the event,” added Eaton.

The event has also been structured to deal with safety and health concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will now take fewer campers than we originally planned so we can keep the appropriate distancing between our staff and the athletes throughout the camp,” Eaton explains. “We will only allow athletes, our staff and college coaches into the park.  We will also work with the park personal to ensure that the park facilities are cleaned and sanitized appropriately.”

The Diamond Direction Softball Portal Showcase is open to any NCAA softball player with at least one year of eligibility left.

Registration for players is now open and coaches can continue to pre-register:
