In today’s “Inside Pitch,” she talks about snacking… what foods in the dugout that have been–and remain to this day–her favorites to provide a little “pick me up” between innings
*****
In my playing days at Florida State, our athletic trainer would ALWAYS have our dugout filled with yummy food during the games we would play.
I personally would be in the bin in between every inning—probably not good for me to be eating as much as I was—BUT I couldn’t resist the temptation of wanting everything that was in the bin!
Here are my 10 snacks I had in the dugout:
1. Trail Mix
I would always pick out everything but the peanuts and M&Ms. They may as well have put in Peanut M&Ms for me.
2. Raisins
I LOVE Raisins!
3. Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
Sometimes these would make me feel a little icky.
4. Cuties or Clementines
I’m allergic to oranges but not Cuties or Clementines…so I ate these a lot. A lot less acidic than actual oranges.
5. Plums
These were probably my favorite of all, my mouth is watering thinking about the taste of a plum as I write this…
6. Apples
The Honeycrisp ones.
7. Bananas
Might as well call me a monkey because bananas are one of my favorite fruits, I usually mash them up and eat them like pudding!
8. Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches
9. Goldfish
10. Rice Crispy Treats
I would sneak these in myself!
Now that I play in the professional league, we don’t really eat snacks much in games.
It’s mostly just sunflower seeds, our own snacks we bring if we want and whatever snacks we keep in the locker room, but you’ll probably catch me munching on something when you see me in the dugout.
