Kate Miller started her softball career a little later than most of her peers.
Having tried a plethora of sports in her childhood—gymnastics, tennis, swim, soccer, volleyball—the athlete didn’t discover her passion for softball until the age of 11, when she was introduced by a good friend she spent a lot of time with. She would accompany her friend to all the practices and private workouts, and eventually joined a recreational league team, where she quickly fell in love with the game.
Hailing from Newnan, Georgia, Kate is in her sophomore year at East Coweta High School, where she competes on the varsity softball squad. In her most recent season, the talented outfielder and utility player was named to the 2nd Team All-Region for her efforts on the field.
At the club level, Kate competes for one of the top 16U teams, the Nationals, led by Coach John Sars. In recent seasons, Kate has excelled on this squad, helping the group to a Top 16 finish at the Colorado Sparkler, a Top 8 finish at TC Nationals, Top 20 at PGF Nationals, and Top 8 at PGF’s “Show Me the Money” event.
“I love it so much. It feels like a family, I go to games and practices and its as if I’ve known these girls forever,” commented Kate on her experience with the Nationals 16U Sars. “We don’t just go out and play and then be done. We all have relationships outside the field. Coach Sars does whatever he can for the girls. It’s like we are his children, he treats us like his own.”
As the fall of her junior year approaches, Kate is being incredibly proactive and utilizing the resources Coach Sars provides for his athletes to reach out to college coaches and attend camps. This fall, she showed off her abilities at the University of Tennessee—one of Kate’s dream schools—as well as the University of North Carolina, Troy, Jackson State, Clemson, and the University of South Florida.
Though she is a tad nervous for September 1st, Kate feels excitement more than anything for the several opportunities that are bound to be available to her as an elite and versatile athlete amongst the class of 2026.
