The Extra Elite 100 rankings are published regularly by Extra Inning Softball to honor the talented and hard-working players in the sport we love so much.
The rankings have become so popular they are used in a variety of ways including:
- press releases by universities when they publicize their signing classes,
- top media releases like those put out by companies such as Gatorade for its State & Player of the Year honors,
- TV mentions such as a game earlier this year televised on ESPN between Oklahoma and Texas, where the Longhorns’ class was praised by the announcers as they had several top prospects signed in the Top 10 of the rankings).
With millions of girls playing fastpitch softball–and the growth in the popularity of the Extra Elite 100–the number of nominations have continued to rise. Due to this growth we are experiencing and to better serve the athletes being considered we have implemented the following THREE changes to the nomination/rankings and ask for your cooperation as we adhere to them:
1. Nominations MUST be completed online
Effective immediately, we NO longer accept nominations via e-mail (too many were getting lost or not delivered at all). We have an effective online system now where all nominations MUST be submitted through our website via our Nominations Form. The nomination form will only be available on our website for a specified time
Note: for the 2025 Extra Elite 100 rankings that will be released starting on August 7, the nomination forms are available as of today. You can view the nominations open/close dates by clicking on our Rankings Schedule.
2. No LATE submissions will be accepted
Due to the time it takes to evaluate and assemble all the information submitted, NO nominations will be accepted after the deadline as indicated.
Once the nominations period ends, the nomination form will be removed from our website. If you miss the deadline, please do NOT email us asking that we make an exception. Late nominations pose a hardship on our staff and the process.
For the next class–the 2025 Extra Elite 100–the closing date to submit information is July 30, 2023.
3. No more TIES
To honor more players, in the past we’ve had “ties” in most numbers–for example, there may be three player bios published at No. 12 in the rankings.
Moving forward, there will be one player per number, 1-100. This was supposed to have happened with the most recent class, but due to some complications we did scale back, but not fully and — Brentt Eads writing here… it’s on me, my mistake.
To offset these changes, we have worked hard to implement other ways players can be recognized appreciated: Position Rankings and Regional Rankings to give two examples. This way, talented players who perhaps didn’t make the top 100 will be able to “make the list,” so to speak.
