Head coach Melyssa Lombardi finalized Oregon softball’s 2019 roster on Sunday with the addition of five student-athletes ahead of Friday’s season opener at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz.
The Ducks added a pair of upperclassmen utility players in senior Bayley Bruner – a four-year letterwinner with the Oregon soccer team – and junior Bailey Cook, while also bringing on a trio of freshmen – infielder Katelyn Howard, right-handed pitcher Kailey Krueger and outfielder Anna Mills.
Krueger, a right-hander out of Wilsonville High School in West Linn High School, joins sophomore lefties Jordan Dail and Maddie MacGrandle on the Ducks’ pitching staff.
Howard (Long Beach, Calif.), Mills (Portland, Ore.) and Cook (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) will all provide positional depth for the Ducks, and Bruner’s speed will give Oregon a valuable pinch-runner off the bench.
Oregon will enter the 2019 season with 19 players on the roster, including 10 freshmen and 14 total newcomers. The Ducks will face Kansas at 10:30 a.m. PT on Friday (Pac-12 Networks) to kick off the 2019 season and a five-game slate in Tempe.
