From Wheatland, California—about 40 minutes north of Sacramento, California—Zerenity Sousa isn’t afraid to relocate.

From Abilene, Texas, the athlete was part of a military family that moved a few times until her father left the Air Force. After time in the Lone Star State, she lived in North Carolina before settling down on the West Coast.
And now, her next stop will be in Utah as she committed recently to Utah State.
From Nor Cal to the mountains of Logan, Utah, Zereniti will provide the Mountain West school a great arm and a power bat along with leadership skills. She has a high school career average at Wheatland Union High a .535 batting average and was selected as a Sacramento Bee 1st Team All-Metro honoree.
Ranked in the Top 20 of the 2023 Extra Elite 100, she also will take to the Beehive State a very cool name.
“My mom got the idea from the ‘Serenity Prayer,’” the athlete explains. “She just changed the spelling because she wanted all the kids to have names that began with ‘Z’” which ended with me! My name is Zereniti (pronounced like ‘Serenity’ but with a ‘Z’”) and my sisters after me are Tatum (age 12) and Emersyn (age seven).”
Here’s more on the California junior…
