Recruiting Video: 2023 Infielder Mickey Coslor Shows How to Promote & Market Yourself As a Player & Get Noticed!

You’ve heard the phrase, “No guts, no glory,” right?

In the softball recruiting scene, what that means to me is that if you’re a prospect and have the talent to play at the next level, you must be proactive in marketing yourself and letting college coaches (and sometimes even club coaches) know about your abilities.

Or in my case—reaching out to a media person who might do a story on you!

Other the years I’ve remembered the players who’ve come up to me, said hello and introduced themselves. Some are also skilled at reaching out through e-mails, texts or twitter and sending stats, info and video clips.

One of those who I’ve enjoyed following over the last couple years is 2023 infield Mickey Coslor, a 2023 Extra Elite 100 infielder.

The Florida infielder knows how to promote herself in a positive way and has even created a website where she can showcase her achievements—including videos—and let coaches know where she’ll be via her softball schedule.

By being aggressive in getting her “brand” out there (timely in this year of NIL (name, image, likeness), Micky is getting more colleges interested in her and also showing she isn’t afraid to put herself out there.

For instance, she wrote me this week with the following and note how well she provides positive information underlining her accomplishments.

Wow!  This summer has flown by!

Rock Gold Waye/Manetta had such a fun (& successful!) summer season! We played really well, won some tournaments, and placed really high in some of the best tournaments throughout the country.

We finished 30-10-3 and outscored really good opponents 256-126. I led the team in runs scored, stolen bases, assists, and was near the top in most other categories. I feel like I played well this summer, and I know I had a blast traveling around the country for tournaments and camps.

I even received some amazing college offers throughout the season from some of my favorite D2, D3, NAIA and Juco programs that have great academic and softball programs!

We’ll see in a few weeks if DI schools have any interest, but I’m so grateful to all the schools that have been able to watch me play and let me know they appreciate hard work, hustle and a dirty uniform on the field!

I hope to make a school decision in the next month or two and am trying to find some time this fall to do some additional campus visits before that time.
I’ve sent along our newly released schedule for the fall, attached below, and I finally found some time to put together new video clips from most of the tournaments we have played.
