Sarah Caffrey Names Renee Wall Assistant Coach

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell softball head coach Sarah Caffrey completed her staff by hiring former Indiana University of Pennsylvania standout Renee Wall as the second assistant coach.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Renee to our Bison family,” said Caffrey. “This team is special to me, and I’m grateful for adding a coach to the roster that will continue to make us better. Renee brings playing expertise with her and the ability to connect with student-athletes and mentor them on and off the field. I look forward to integrating her with our team this fall and can’t wait to take the field this spring.”

Wall was a five-year starter at IUP, playing from 2018-2022 and twice, earning All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) nods. She spent four years at the hot corner before transitioning to first base during her graduate season. Wall was a potent force in the PSAC, earning the 2018 PSAC Central Freshman of the Year and 2019 PSAC Central Player of the Year awards. Her bat sizzled as she collected a career average of .337 with 149 hits, including 42 doubles, three triples, and 19 home runs.

She was equally adept at driving in runs and scoring them, finishing with 93 career runs scored and 105 RBIs. Her career on-base percentage was an astounding .461, boosted by 72 walks and 38 hit-by-pitches.

Her name marks the IUP record book. She led the team in batting average twice (2018 & 2019). For career ranks, she is first in walks, fourth in doubles, fourth in slugging percentage (.589), seventh in RBIs, eighth in home runs, 10th in total bases (255), 11th all-time in batting average, 13th in runs scored, 13th in hits, and 19th in at-bats (442).

After graduation, Wall was hired as the assistant softball coach for the Palmyra High School Team and the prestigious 16U & 18U Frozen Ropes Travel Ball Team in Hershey, Pa.

Wall is excited to start working with the rising Orange & Blue softball program that is coming off its first Patriot League Tournament appearance since 2019:

The Bison complete fall ball with two home matches against Lock Haven (Oct. 13) and East Stroudsburg (Oct. 15) and a contest against Maryland (Oct. 21) at the Little League World Series complex.
