12U CLUB SCOUTING REPORT
Extra Inning Softball will begin releasing the Extra Elite Eighty 12U Club Rankings starting on Monday, April 27, 2020, so we’ll start taking a look at some of the top teams in the nation.
Let’s take a look at Coach Gabe Perez‘s team …
CORONA ANGELS 07-PEREZ/KNIGHTEN
2019 Fall Record: 40-3-2
2019 Summer Record: 58-23-6
Top Finishes: PGF Shootout champion, Triple Crown Monster Mash co-champions and 2019 PGF national qualifier.
Returners:
- Brianah Alejandre (2025, SS, one of the most athletic players in 2025 class, a 5-tool player. She can play anywhere on the field. She batted .538 with a 1.576 OPS, six HRs, 26 RBIs, 51 runs and 28 SBs in the fall)
- Jaelyn Toledo (2025, P/1B, part of the Angels exceptional 1-2 punch in the circle. She’s also a huge offensive threat. She batted .543 with a 1.320 OPS, 19 RBIs and 13 doubles)
Newcomers:
- McKenzy Becerra (2025, 3B, a power hitter with great hands defensively. Led team in hitting in fall with a .616 average, 1.738 OPS, four HRs and 51 RBIs)
- Lorena Ricasa (2025, OF, a speedy slapper and table setter for the big hitters. She batted .405 with 24 SBs and 35 runs in the fall)
- Savannah Saiza (2025, OF, a speedy outfielder who hits for power. She’s a base-stealing threat. She batted .423 with a 1.022 OPS, 24 SBs and 34 runs)
Who is your No. 1 pitcher and can you describe her skills? Who are the other pitchers on your staff and can you describe their skills?
I don’t have a No. 1 pitcher. I have a dynamic duo. Montse Reyes-Cardenas (2025, P) is a strikeout pitcher who loves to compete. She’s a big-game pitcher with great speed and movement. She can strike you out with a rise, curve or change-up. She keeps hitters guessing and off balance. She went 13-1 with a 0.88 ERA and 126 Ks in 71.2 innings in the fall.
Jaelyn Toledo (2025, P) has great velocity and movement. Her riseball jumps out of the zone for a strikeout pitch and gets kids to chase on a curveball with great break. She went 16-2 with a 0.89 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 62.2 innings.
