LAUREN FISCHER: QUEEN OF SNOW DIVING

The Northeast has been hit hard by bad weather, snow and rain this winter, so there hasn’t been much practicing outdoors for the top softball players in those areas.

That means players such as Cincy Doom 16U Premier-Gregory/Gregg 2025 OF/slapper Lauren Fischer, who lives in Avon, Ohio, a suburb outside of Cleveland, have to get creative.

“We get lots of lake effect snow, which can really add up over time in the winter,” Fischer said. “I started thinking of ways I could get some extra fielding practice in while both of my parents were at work and I thought it would be fun to get some extra diving work in on the fluffy and soft snow due to our school’s snow day! I had so much fun diving and getting some awesome reps in, but wasn’t able to stay outside long do to the frigid temperatures. The only downside to snow diving would be the snow that gets on your face and freezes your eyelashes, lol! I’ll never be able to perfect snow diving, but it is so super fun trying to!”

Fischer hopes everyone get a chance to appreciate the snow.

“Many people who live in the warm parts of the country are able to get many reps in outside on a daily basis while others that live in Northern states have four seasons (which I LOVE) and may not be able to get in as many reps outside but are still finding ways to get work in,” Fischer said. “My goal is to play Division 1 college softball and I must find creative ways to get work in.”
