Travel Ball Fall Stats: Batting average .344 AVG and .447 OBP.

High School Highlights/Stats: Led the CIF Sequoia League in hits (34), runs (36), steals (20), batting average (.395) and on-base percentage (.500) in 2022.

Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? I belong to the Sorcerer softball organization. I started on the local team in my area and worked my way up to competing on the Gold team in Northern California.

Do you have any suggestions for training methods or apps and why? I find I am the most successful when I use multiple training tools. I have a daily routine where I do tee work, soft toss and hitting off a pitching machine. Whenever I get a chance to hit live pitching, I will take it! I feel like that helps me the most in my hitting.

Can you tell us about your experience at PGF Nationals this summer? PGF Nationals was a great experience, whether it was battling it out with my team in tough games or making memories with them during free time. It is such a fun week filled with softball and I look forward to attending for my last year of travel ball!

What was your favorite fall tournament/event and why? My favorite tourney in fall was the PGF Shootout. My team took 2nd Place (6-2 overall). I was excited to compete against the best teams on one of the biggest stages of the fall season. Being able to face some of the best pitching in the nation was everything I had hoped for.

Which player/team was your toughest opponent and why? Hotshots (National-Nelson). We lost to them in a championship game. We gave it our all, but came out with a tough loss.

Can you talk about your decision to commit to Cal? I chose Cal because for me it was my connection with the coach. Coach (Chelsea) Spencer is enthusiastic, competitive and energetic. She asked me early on in the recruitment process, “Carly, are you competitive?” I said, “Yes!! I love to win!!” And she said, “I can tell!” Another factor was that Cal is the number one public school in the world!

What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I want to major in nutrition science and become a labor and delivery nurse. This is because I have a passion for helping others and caring for people in need.

Who is your sports hero and why? My sports hero is Rylee Pierce. She is a local athlete out of Visalia that I followed throughout her softball career. She played her senior year at the University of Arizona and I will never forget her diving catch up the 1st-base line that made the ESPN highlights. She came to a Gerry Glasco hitting camp at my house when I was 12 (years old) and I followed her ever since.

What’s the best hype song and why? “Baby Shark” (by Pinkfong) was my walk-up song when we invited our hometown youth softball league to one of our high school games. The little girls had so much fun hearing a song that they enjoyed at a softball game! Our whole team picked songs the girls would like. We invited them on the field after the game to sign autographs. It was such a fun experience!

What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? My favorite TV show to binge is “Fuller House.” I remember watching the original series “Full House” when I was younger. Watching the newer one brings me back to when I was little.

Do you have a secret talent/skill? No.
