What will it take for your team to be successful this year?
For use to be successful, it’s just going to come down to staying healthy. We had a few players that we had to limit last fall and even one was also limited prior in the spring/summer season. We don’t maintain the large roster like some West Coast and Texas teams sometimes do, but as long as our players are healthy they should compete with any team they step on the field with.

Shelby McKenzie of the Birmingham Thunderbolts

Who is your No. 1 pitcher and can you describe her skills? Who are the other pitchers on your staff and can you describe their skills?
Our three pitchers — Shelby McKenzie, Mya Holt, and Jayden Heavener — all excel in their own right in the circle. Where Mya and Shelby, both right-handed drop ball pitchers with nasty change-ups, carried the larger inning load in the 2019 PGF national championships, Jayden has proven she is one of, if not the most, dominant lefties in her age group. At the end of the fall, Jayden was topping out at 64 mph and has unbelievable natural movement on each of her pitches.

Can you describe your offense and what some of the strengths are?
You won’t find another 06 team with the power of this team from top to bottom. Every player has proven that they can hit the long ball at any time. There is no pitching around anyone on this team. However, if Rocky Thompson, the Bolts organization manager, has one area that he holds at a higher regard than any other it is base runnning and this team is an example of that. Simple base hits are stretched into doubles and triples. Extra bases are taken by being aggressive but smart.
