12U CLUB SCOUTING REPORT

Extra Inning Softball began releasing the Extra Elite Eighty 12U Club Rankings on Monday, April 27, 2020, so we’ll continue to take a look at some of the top teams in the nation.

Let’s take a look at Coach JC Harmon‘s team …

VIRGINIA UNITY – Harmon/Gaskell

2019 Fall Record: 25-2
Top finishes: Third at NSA World Series, three USA events rained out and not finished and one PGF event as well.

Returners:

Mazie Harmon (2026, C/SS/CF, an athletic, strong-armed player that is quick on the bases, has a strong bat and 60-mph overhand velocity. Batted .464 with eight doubles in 69 at bats in the lead-off spot. A two-time USSSA All-American, Region 2 USA Softball All-American Top 40 and Softball Factory Pre-Season Rookie All-American)
Ryan Mincey (2026, CF/2B, an athletic player with a ton of range in the outfield and a strong bat. Batted .567 with eight triples and one HR in 67 at-bats as #4 batter. Region 2 USA Softball All-American Top 40)
Marlee Gaskell (2025, P/1B, a tall, strong-armed, left-handed pitcher. She started 9 games, threw 39 innings with a record of 4-1, 1.86 ERA and 44 strikeouts. Consistent 55-plus mph in games. Batted .387 with four doubles. USSSA All-American and Region 2 USA Softball All-American Top 40)
Lexi Howerton (2025, P/SS/C, an athletic, rangy player with a number of developed pitches and a consistent bat. She started eight games, threw 37 innings with a record of 4-1 and 2.25 ERA and 32 strikeouts. Consistent 50-plus mph in games. Batted .517 with eight doubles and seven triples. Region 2 USA Softball All-American Top 40)
Peyton Cannon (2025, P/UT, a tall player with a lot of leverage on the ball when she pitches and she is a very consistent hitter and bunter. Her fall season was cut short due to an injured ankle. She hit .333 with three doubles in 29 at-bats. She throws consistent 50-plus mph in games and does a really good job of changing speeds with her change-up)
Tater Marshall (2025, UT, a good all-around ballplayer that can play multiple positions and hit in different spots of the lineup. She is also a very accurate pitcher. She batted .351 in the fall with 15 RBIs and scored 21 runs. She does an excellent job of location of her pitches and with a lot of movement with a drop curve and change-up)
Taylor Dodd (2025 P/OF/IF, possesses raw speed and power. She hit .489 in the fall with five doubles and 21 runs scored. Throws 55-plus mph and is very fast and aggressive in her approach)
Katie Horvath (2025, IF, a solid corner infielder with a big bat in big moments of games. She hit .387 in the fall with five doubles, a triple, an HR and scored 25 runs. A USSSA All-American)
Cameron Kasarda (2025, OF, a very fast, athletic outfielder. She is a lefty who can hit away, slap or bunt. She hit .348 in the fall and scored 26 runs)
Maddy Bethel (2026, IF, a solid infielder at 2B and has a great feel for laying down the perfect bunt. She batted .273 in the fall with nine runs scored. A USSSA All-American)
Brooklynn Laney (2025, OF, a solid outfielder with huge power at the plate if she gets a barrel on it. She hit .256 in the fall with two triples and 16 runs scored)
