Tell us about your travel team/organization and how you became involved with them? I was playing for another team at the time and one of my mom’s friends said that Select was looking for a catcher, so I told my mom I wanted to try out and I did and made the team. Honestly, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

What are some of your training methods/training routine? I train at the indoor facility, Redline. It’s a great place and I love the trainers there! I’ve worked a lot on explosive drills when I’m there and getting faster. We lift there as well and getting stronger is very important to me since I’m smaller, so I take lifting very seriously and always try to keep improving on my reps and weight.

What areas are you focusing on/trying to improve this fall? Getting stronger and faster at everything. There’s always room for improvement even if you call it a strength!

Can you tell us about your experience at PGF Nationals this summer? I had a great time at PGF. My team and I had a ton of fun on and off the field! There’s always really good competition there and I get excited to go back every year! I also loved watching our 18s make it all the way to the championship even though nobody thought they would, but no doubts here!

Which player/team was your toughest opponent and why? I feel like the toughest team for us to beat this year was Impact Gold-Jazz 16U. They have a great team of athletes that just work really hard and show a lot of passion while playing the game. Lots of utility players that can hit and play defense. Still love playing them because they bring it every time and we love the competition!

What areas are you interested in future occupations and why? I want to be a sports broadcaster. It’s been my dream job since I was little. Watching the Women’s College World Series all these years has just convinced me that’s what I want to do. To not only play the game at the next level, but then announce it for the generations after me.

Can you talk about your decision to commit to Kansas? People don’t lie when they say “when I first stepped foot on campus, I knew it was home.” KU felt like home already. I felt like I had a connection with the coaches right away. The campus and facilities are so nice and the atmosphere was unreal! And I love how close it is to home, so I can still see my family when I want.

Who is your sports hero and why? Michael Jordan. He always inspired me because he always talked about how much he failed, but he came back stronger. All of his quotes have stuck with me, some more than others. To think that he’s one of the most successful basketball players of all time and he failed a lot just kept me in the game, because softball is a game of failure.

What’s the best hype song and why? “Danza Kuduro” by Don Omar. It’s a Hispanic song that my dad played one day while we were in the car and ever since it’s been the song I listen to before a game. It’s just so high beat and it gets me pumped up!

What’s your favorite TV show to binge and why? “All American” and “All American: Homecoming.” It was just really easy to get hooked to and then they made a sequel to it and it made the show 10 times better.

Do you have a secret talent/skill? Softball IQ and humor!
