2021 Extra Elite 100 Candidate Profile: So Cal A’s Catcher Hannah Slike… Close to Committing?

Hannah hits a home run at the 2019 PGF Nationals.

When legendary club coach Bruce Richardson of the So Cal A’s organization is high on a player, it’s a good bet she’s one to watch.

Hannah Slike

Richardson, whose 18U teams won the first four PGF Nationals and several other national championships, has produced standout players who’ve gone on to win NCAA National Championships including pitcher Delaney Gurley (Florida) and outfielder Kelli Godin (UCLA) among dozens, if not hundreds, more who have had success at the DI level.

One player he’s been high on for a while is today’s 2021 spotlight player, one of the top catchers in the junior class, Hannah Slike, who could be just a few weeks away from announcing where she’ll attend college…

Intro:

Hannah was ranked No. 31 in the first 2021 Extra Elite 100 in January 2019.

She had an outstanding 2019 high school season and continues to be a big contributor to the So Cal A’s – Richardson’s success on and off the field, including being named a Captain as a junior on the team this year.

High School (2019):

As a sophomore at Eastlake High School in Chula Visa, California, she batted .471 for the season with 40 hits and 25 RBIs. Most notably, she had 91 plate attempts with 85 at-bats and not a single strike out.

Her team ended the season ranked in the Top 10 of Division 1.  Just like her Freshman year, she earned 1st Team All-League, All CIF San Diego Section and Most Valuable Offensive player for her school.

Travel Ball:

Hannah joined So Cal A’s – Richardson (18U) team before she was even in high school. She has caught every pitch of every game for Bruce Richardson in the last two years at PGF.

Her Freshman year the team earned 7th place, after losing the first bracket game and this past year as a sophomore the team came in 3rd place. This past summer as a  sophomore, Hannah had seven RBIs including a home run and two squeeze bunts. This fall with the A’s she had 67 at bats and she .418 with 15 RBIs.

Updated OnDeck Measurements:

In Oct 2019, she was retested by OnDeck and her new Allister Index is in rarefied air: 100.87!

Making up her stellar mark is an Overhand Throw Speed of 69 mph. She was clocked at 70 mph at a prospect camp this Fall as well.

Here are a few additional notable metrics via OnDeck:

  • Bat Speed:75 mph
  • Exit Speed: 70 mph
  • 20 Yard Dash: 2.79 seconds
  • 40 Yard Dash: 5.19 seconds

According to one family member, when Hannah shared her ODM results with a Power 5 head coach, the coach replied: “Wow, in all my years working with the Allisters I’ve never seen a score like that. I didn’t even know it was possible!”
