As we unveil the top players in the Class of 2021, we will spotlight some of them and give more insight into who they are on and off the field.
Sophia Marsalo grew up around softball: her father, Tony, has coached at the high school and club levels and older sister Grace, a 2019 pitcher/utility player signed with Penn State, has also been a member of the “top 100” club.
What’s most impressive about her right now, however, could be the fact that–per several college coaches–Sophia was the youngest player in the 18U Premier bracket at PGF. She’s been playing up for a long time and has more than held her own.
Here’s a closer look at this standout player from the Keystone State whose stock is rising quickly and should have a very busy September once college coaches can start contacting her…

What does it mean to you to be considered as one of the top 100 players in your class?
To be considered one of the top 100 players in my class means a lot to me and I feel extremely honored to be recognized.
Looking back on your career so far, both club and high school, what’s been your favorite experience (or experiences) both in softball and off the field?
Off of the field, my favorite experience has been travelling the country with my best friends. Whether it is sitting in a van for 15-plus hours, visiting new places or hanging out in the hotel rooms, it is always a great time. My favorite on the field experience would be winning the PIAA District III Championship. It was the first time my school had won in 38 years.
