2023 Extra Elite 100 Candidate Spotlight: Teagan Ritchie… the Softball Field Is My Home!

Teagan Ritchie is a power-hitting shortstop from Stanfield, North Carolina.

There’s a lot of good talent coming up in the Carolinas and one to watch is a shortstop with power named Teagan Ritchie who is starting to get attention from ACC and SEC schools.

Teagan plays for Team NC and plays on the same Kevin Hinde-coached team that has another that has another infielder with Extra Elite 100 talent in Madison Edwards who we profiled recently.

Here’s a closer look at Teagan, a talented infielder who has played softball since she was age 4 and says, “Every time I’m on the field I’m loving it!”

When was this first time you realized that you really loved softball and what triggered that feeling?
I’ve been playing since I was four-years-old and I’ve always felt like the softball field was my home. There’s not a time that I can remember where I didn’t love softball. Every time I’m on the field I’m loving it!

What would you say has been the biggest key to your becoming the successful softball player you are today?
The biggest keys to me being successful are my coaches’ patience and willing to push me along with my determination and hard work to never give up.

Talking recruiting, have you started thinking about colleges and have you visited or camped at any schools?
Yes, I have been thinking about many colleges. I have attended many college prospect camps and hope to attend many more in the future. I have attended camps at Mississippi State, Liberty, James Madison, North Carolina, Clemson, USC-Upstate to name a few and other camps such as ProSwings College Exposure Camp and Diamond Direction Camps that have provided exposure to numerous college coaches in one place.

Were you happy or bummed when the Early Recruiting Rules came out and meant you couldn’t be recruited and/or commit until shortly before the start of your junior year of high school?
I have mixed emotions about the situation, but either way I know I have to continue to work hard to achieve my goals.

What have coaches, club or college, said they like about your game or your play on the field?
