Tegan Gabrielse of the Tennessee Mojo 07 – Nelson team is a Top 25 player in the 2025 Extra Elite 100 as a flame-throwing pitcher who is also is a standout catcher.

Starting on March 1, 2021, the 2025 Extra Elite 100 rankings will launch and Tegan is a strong candidate to make the list for the second time… this is what we said about her last year in the initial rankings:

T-24—Tegan Gabrielse, P/UT, Virginia Unity – Johnson
Tegan was a Select 30All-American and has consistently thrown in the low 60’s and in mid-May hit 65 mph on the radar gun. She has the ability to dominate a game on the mound and this winter at the PGF Florida Legacy Prospects Tournament pitched 12 innings and had a 2-0 record with 12 K’s and also showcased her hitting skills as Tegan hit .462. What makes her in-game velocity even more effective is her change-up in the low 40’s. At the Select 30 All-American camp she struck out the first 12 batters she faced. Incorporated in Tegan’s training of six days a week is strength training, speed and agility training, pitching, hitting, and even catching workouts as she’s dedicated to the game in all facets.

It’s always great to learn more about a fast-rising prospect and here’s 15 facts that help define who Tegan is and why she’s considered so highly…

Overcoming Adversity

“Rise and move forward” has been the definition of Tegan as a person and athlete this past year. This last season proved to be a challenge beyond what anyone could have ever conceived—from COVID to pitching style changes to travel ball team changes to fighting against adversity. Her father Alex says, “She rose above it all as a stronger athlete and young woman. One thing this past year has taught her and us is that perseverance through accepting challenges builds us to be greater than we could have envisioned.”

Why She’s Nicknamed “Savage”

One thing that people learn quickly is Tegan goes by “Savage” as a nickname and for good reason: she internalizes that type of mindset in everything she does and even has it written on her glove.

From the pitcher’s circle, batter’s box, and all the way to her school she is focused in pursuit of her goals. At one time she was told by a coach, “You’re never going to be a pitcher” and she has used that as a motivation mirror that she writes messages and quotes on. These change out weekly, but two always remain: “Savage” and “Be better today than yesterday and greater tomorrow than today.”

Dangerous Bat

Tegan’s offense opened up right away from season start and all the way till the end. With a grand slam and other home runs against the top 14U pitchers and teams in the country helped add to her team’s strong record.

During the Scenic City All Star game, she cleared one well past 250-feet and word spread down to the other fields quicker than the ball left the park. In Florida for the USSSA Select 30 camp, “Savage” left nothing to second guess her at bat power with a batting average of over .600.

A homerun over the 220-foot fences during the final Select 30 game against a top pitcher started the tone for what was to be an amazing game. She sent several shots that disappeared in the night sky at the S30 Home Run Derby. During the camp, she was ranked 9th over all and the 3rd pitcher out of all 350 athletes in the 2021-2026 graduating years.

USA Softball All-American & Softball Factory

Tegan was selected to represent not only herself, but the region at the USA Softball All American Games in Oklahoma City.

Playing on the Women’s College World Series field could be a glimpse to the future of her college career, along with the other top-level athletes in the nation. It was an experience that allowed her to perform and be recognized at the invitational Softball Factory Rookie All American Camp.
