And the Winning Entry in the 2023 Pfeiffer University Halloween Pumpkin Contest Is…

UPDATE: Last week, on August 24th,  we published the entries for the 6th Annual Pfeiffer University Painted Pumpkin Contest to see which design would be the favorite among the Extra Inning Softball community.

Since Tuesday, we asked YOU to go on our social media pages and cast a vote for the best pumpkin in this year’s batch from Pfeiffer University Softball.

We’ve counted the votes and it is time to declare a winner for the 2023 Pfeiffer Pumpkin Contest…

With 44% of the votes,

EEYORE has won this year’s pumpkin contest!

  • Gracie Griffen (Jr., 1B/OF)
  • Kali Morton (Sr., RHP)
  • Emma Bullin (Jr., RHP/2B)
  • Abbie Yarboro (Sr.,3B/OF)
  • Abbey Duckett (Fr.,1B)

Group Spokesman: Kali Morton: “Painting pumpkins is something the team looks forward to every year. It’s a joy to have friendly competition and to bond with my teammates. We chose Eeyore while reminiscing on our favorite childhood cartoons. We wanted to paint a pumpkin that would appeal to youngers kids and that older kids could also enjoy. This is my favorite Pfeiffer Softball tradition and everyone did a great job this year!”

Close behind was GARY THE SNAIL with 39% of the votes!

  • Micah Felts: (Soph., UT)
  • Jaci Cook: (Jr., OF)
  • Maddie Varner: (Fr., OF)
  • Maddison York: (Soph., MIF)
  • Rileigh Dalton: (Fr., IF)

Group Spokesman: Jaci Cook: “The Pumpkin Painting Contest is something the whole team looks forward to. It’s fun to see everyone’s creative side outside of softball and spend extra time with your teammates. Our team chose Gary from SpongeBob to do something that nobody has done in the past years for the contest.”

Thanks Pfeiffer for sending these to us and allowing us to put on this contest for the past six years!

  • Emily Dickerson (Fr., 1B/3B)

Group Spokesman: Ellie McHone:  “This is my 4th Pumpkin Painting Contest and I get excited for it every single year. I’m a person who loves everything fall so painting a pumpkin is right up my alley! I’ve also enjoyed getting to experience it with different girls each year because we get to bond while having healthy competition. My favorite memory from the contest would be seeing tons of little girls’ faces light up last year when they came to our fall camp and we had them vote in person for their favorite pumpkin. My group won so that was also a plus!”

C – Monopoly 🎃

  • Cassidy Brinkley: (Jr.,C)
  • Emma Chopko: (Jr.,C)
  • Charly Cooper: (Soph., OF)
  • Maddie Flinchum: (Fr., IF)

Group Spokesman: Emma Chopko: “Having the Pumpkin Painting Contest is something that allows us to compete against our teammates off the field. It’s a great way to bond with your group while having fun and going up against the rest of the team. Our group chose to do the Monopoly Man because Pfeiffer Softball has never done it before. We love bringing different players into our dorm to play all sorts of games and we knew Monopoly would be a crowd favorite.”
